Fespaco West Film Series – Brazil

Fespaco West Film Series – Brazil will showcase a selection of short movies made by the new generation of black filmmakers to provide a panorama of the recent film production in the country. In the program, five films will be screened preceded by Soul in the Eye, a movie made by Zózimo Bulbul, the founding father of Black Brazilian Film, in 1973.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Brazilian researcher and curator Janaína Oliveira, coordinator of FICINE (Black Cinema Itinerant Forum) who is researching at Howard University as a Fulbright Scholar.

The Black Cinema Itinerant Forum (FICINE)
FICINE is space for training and reflection on the world production of film, photography and audiovisual that has blacks as directors, black cultures and black experiences as the main theme.

The Pan-African Festival of Cinema and Television of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) is the largest film festival in Africa and takes place biannually in the capital of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou. The 26th edition of the festival will take place in February- March 2019 and will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
