The Category Is Red Gallery Hours

"The Category is Red is a reaction to the notion that Black and inner-city artists must solely paint about Black and inner-city subjects. I wanted to give artists a break from the commercialization of such heavy subjects and themes and only asked them to submit works featuring the color Red. To me, red is a color with so much passion and is represented in blood, flags, fire, and religious motifs." -Mark West

The Category is Red is an exhibition conceived by Mark Anthony West featuring the color Red. This exhibition will feature a mix of local, national, and international visual artists that will showcase artwork and mixed media at the Motor House Main Gallery. Some of the artists being featured include Baltimore’s own Qrcky, Kim Rice and VLLAGER, Monique Ribeiro and Ayra Aziza from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and red paintings from the Mark West Private Collection. In total we will feature a total of 12 artists.
