Ernest Shaw was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He is a product of the Baltimore City Public School System. Mr. Shaw earned a high school diploma from the Baltimore School for the Arts, a B.A. degree from Morgan State University, and an M.F.A. from Howard University. It is at these institutions that the artist began to develop the skills and techniques necessary to articulate the Black Experience through visual representation.
Kim Loper is a designer, mixed media artist and educator who has taught and managed arts programs in collaboration with schools, landscape architects, community centers, neighborhood groups and non-profit organizations for over 10 years. In her work she examines how social constructs manifest within our bodies and personal and collective histories become encoded in our DNA.
